A budget-friendly dry flush toilet brand with clear warranty terms, held back by higher refill costs, weaker odor sealing late in each cartridge and thin independent coverage.

Cách chúng tôi chấm từng sản phẩm

Modiwell makes dry flush toilets for RVs, camping, cabins and boats: waterless units that seal each use into an airtight bag, so there is no tank to empty and no plumbing to install. This Modiwell review looks at how the toilets work, what they cost to buy and run, how the brand's warranty and returns compare, and where independent coverage disagrees with Modiwell's own claims. The short answer: it is a cheaper way into dry flush toilets that suits part-time use, but running costs and durability deserve a close look before you commit.

Modiwell review: our verdict in brief

Modiwell is worth considering if you camp on weekends, use an RV seasonally, or need a toilet in a cabin, tiny home or boat where plumbing is not an option. It is the budget pick among dry flush brands and comes with a solid warranty on paper. Look harder at a rival if you will use it full-time, if odor control in hot weather is your top concern, or if you want the sturdiest build, because the only detailed independent review found weaknesses in all three areas.

How we researched this review

Independent coverage of Modiwell is thin. We read the most detailed owner-style review we could find, from the dry-flush-toilet.com site, a second article on the brand from the same site, and the brand's own website for its warranty, return, power and running-cost details. We did not use or order a Modiwell toilet ourselves. Where these sources disagree, which happens more than once, we say so rather than picking a side.

One warning while you research: an Amazon seller called "modiwell" profiled by CherryPicks lists 42 products such as coat racks, drill bits and kitchenware, shipped from China. It does not appear to be the toilet brand, so do not judge Modiwell by that seller's ratings.

How a Modiwell dry flush toilet works

A dry flush toilet replaces water with a bag. After each use, you press a button and the toilet twists and heat-seals the waste into a continuous film bag, which is then thrown away with household rubbish where local rules allow. The Modiwell website describes three steps: add coagulant, seal with one touch, and the waste is individually wrapped. It also says refill bags are EN 13432 certified biodegradable, toilets arrive fully assembled, and swapping a cartridge takes under 2 minutes.

Compared with the alternatives, the appeal is clear. Composting toilets need venting and careful moisture control, and cassette toilets mean carrying a heavy, sloshing tank to a dump station. A dry flush toilet avoids both, at the cost of buying refill cartridges for as long as you own it.

The models

Modiwell LE-310 Portable Dry Flush Toilet

The LE-310 is Modiwell's portable model and the one most coverage describes. Dry Flush Toilet reports three months of use in an RV, a price of $729, a weight of 24 lbs and setup in under 10 minutes, with each flush sealing in about 15 seconds. The reviewer liked the low weight for moving it between an RV, boat and cabin, and found the flush mechanism dependable.

The same review raises real concerns. It noticed a faint smell once a cartridge was more than half full in warm weather, felt the bags were slightly thinner than rivals', and found the lid latch loosening after three months of daily use, with the plastic body feeling adequate rather than premium.

Power is one point where sources conflict. That review describes running the toilet on D batteries, while the Modiwell site says the LE-310 is powered by an AC charger. Check the specification of the exact version you buy, especially if you plan to go off-grid.

Modiwell also sells an EVO version of this toilet and a safety rail accessory that Modiwell sells for extra stability.

For a permanent install, the Elite R1808 is the fixed-installation model. According to Modiwell, it can be hardwired to a 9V–30V supply or run from an AC charger, and the brand recommends keeping it connected to constant power. We found no independent review of this model, so we have not rated it.

Modiwell dry flush toilet price and running costs

The upfront price is Modiwell's strongest card. Dry Flush Toilet puts the LE-310 at $729, undercutting Laveo by $316 and Compocloset by $470.

Running costs are where the picture gets murky. Dry Flush Toilet found cartridges cost $35 to $40 and last 12 to 18 flushes, working out at roughly $1.75 to $2.00 a flush, more than either rival it compared. Modiwell's own figures are much lower: the Modiwell site prices refills between $0.47 and $0.70 a flush, varying with the refill format, and puts yearly costs anywhere between $111 for weekend-only campers and more than $2,044 for two people living in an RV full-time without the optional urine tank. The gap likely reflects different refill formats and prices over time, so price the refills you will actually buy before you choose.

Warranty, returns and support

Modiwell's terms are clearer than many small brands'. The Modiwell website states an 18-month limited warranty covering quality-related repairs, an optional accident protection plan at checkout, a 30-day return and exchange policy for quality problems that show up in the first 30 days after delivery, free shipping to the US, Canada and Australia on available orders, and human support Monday to Friday. Note that the 30-day window covers quality problems, not a change of mind.

On support quality, Modiwell cites more than 200 Amazon reviews with a 4.4-star average, and the independent reviewer rated customer support as good. The second dry-flush-toilet.com article says Modiwell is based in China and that shipping can take longer than expected.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Lowest upfront price among the dry flush brands compared
  • Light enough to carry between RV, boat and cabin
  • Fast, tool-free setup with no plumbing or venting
  • Clear warranty and return terms on the brand site
  • Refill bags described as biodegradable

Cons:

  • Refill costs can be high, and sources disagree on how high
  • Faint odor reported when a cartridge is past half full in warm weather
  • Build quality feels a step below pricier rivals
  • Power and model details conflict between sources
  • Very little independent coverage of the brand

Who should buy Modiwell, and who should skip it

Buy a Modiwell if you use a toilet part-time, such as weekend camping or a seasonal RV, want the lowest entry price into dry flush technology, or need something light enough to carry in and out. It can also work in a cabin, boat or tiny home where plumbing is impractical.

Skip it, or compare carefully, if you plan full-time use, where higher refill costs can outweigh the cheaper purchase price, if odor sensitivity is your main concern, or if you want the most durable build.

Alternatives

The two rivals that come up most are Laveo and Compocloset. Dry Flush Toilet sums up the trade-off: Modiwell wins on purchase price, Laveo is the best all-rounder, and Compocloset costs most upfront but has the lowest long-term running cost. If you would rather avoid ongoing refill costs altogether, a composting toilet is the other main option, at the price of more maintenance.

Our ratings

Overall: 3.5/5, because Dry Flush Toilet found Modiwell the cheapest and lightest way into dry flush toilets, while weaker odor sealing, a less durable build and higher refill costs hold it back.

Modiwell LE-310 Portable Dry Flush Toilet: 3.5/5, since Dry Flush Toilet liked its price, weight and easy setup over three months but reported a loosening latch and faint odor late in each cartridge.

FAQ

Is a Modiwell dry flush toilet worth it?

For part-time use, often yes: it costs less to buy than its main rivals and sets up quickly. For full-time use, compare refill costs carefully, since the higher running cost can cancel out the savings over a couple of years.

How much does a Modiwell toilet cost?

Dry Flush Toilet lists the LE-310 at $729. Prices change, so check the Modiwell store and authorized retailers for the current figure and any refill bundles.

How do you claim a Modiwell warranty, including on Amazon?

The Modiwell website states an 18-month limited warranty for quality-related issues, plus an optional accident protection plan at checkout. Keep your order number and photos of the fault, and contact Modiwell support; if you bought on Amazon, start the claim from your Amazon order so the marketplace has a record.

What is Modiwell's return policy?

Modiwell describes a return and exchange policy for quality-related issues reported soon after delivery. It covers faults rather than change-of-mind returns, so read the terms before ordering.

Does a dry flush toilet smell?

Each use is sealed in an airtight bag, which keeps odor low. The one detailed review reported a faint smell once a cartridge was more than half full in warm weather, so swapping cartridges a little early helps in summer.

Does Modiwell have a contact number and location?

None of the sources we read publishes a verified phone number or street address for the toilet brand. Modiwell says a human support team answers Monday to Friday through its website, and coverage describes it as a Chinese manufacturer, so expect shipping to take longer than for locally stocked brands.

How can you track a Modiwell order?

Our sources do not describe a tracking tool. Use the tracking link in your order confirmation from the Modiwell store, or the order page of the retailer or marketplace you bought from.

What if you were charged without ordering from Modiwell?

The sources do not cover this. Contact the store or marketplace where the charge came from first, and if it is not resolved, dispute it with your card issuer. An unrelated Amazon seller also uses the name "modiwell", so check which seller the charge came from.
