In short: Ulanzi offers premium-feeling gear at well below premium-brand prices, especially its travel tripods, with minor quirks and some aggressive marketing.
In this review: our verdict, products and prices, design and build, tripods, control decks, lights and accessories, shipping, pros and cons, and FAQ.
Our verdict in brief
Ulanzi is a strong choice for travel photographers, vloggers and editors who want solid, well-designed accessories without paying Peak Design, Gitzo or Elgato prices. Skip it if you need the very lightest tripod or the most mature control software, or if you dislike frequent marketing emails.
How we researched this review
We read hands-on reviews from Stefano Politi Markovina and Ewen Bell (Zero Y travel tripod), Geeky Nerdy Techy (Zero F38 tripod) and Fstoppers (D200X control deck and Dial), plus overviews from WisePicked and Olivia Reviews, and checked Ulanzi's store and shipping policy. Several reviewers use affiliate links, so we focus on their measurements and criticisms. We did not test the products ourselves.
Ulanzi products and prices
| Model | Price | Warranty |
|---|---|---|
| Ulanzi VL120 RGB LED Video Light | $39.95 (Ulanzi) | Not stated in our sources |
| Ulanzi FOLD8 pocket light | $34.99 (Ulanzi) | Not stated in our sources |
| Ulanzi MA67 Magnetic Tri-Fold Phone Stand | $41.99 (Ulanzi) | Not stated in our sources |
| Ulanzi Zero F38 tripod with fluid head | $339.40 when reviewed (Geeky Nerdy Techy) | Lifetime guarantee claimed on Ulanzi's site, per this reviewer |
Prices on Ulanzi's store change often with sales. Geeky Nerdy Techy also lists the Zero F38 without the fluid head at $314.45, and notes a comparable Peak Design tripod can run upwards of $650.
Design and build
Ulanzi's higher-end gear leans on carbon fiber and aluminum, with features borrowed from premium brands: integrated ball heads with Arca-Swiss plates on its travel tripods, flip-lock legs, and magnetic mounting across its phone accessories. Reviewers generally found the build better than the price suggests, though long-term durability varies by product.
Ulanzi tripods
Ulanzi Zero Y travel tripod
The Zero Y is Ulanzi's lightweight carbon tripod for travel. Stefano Politi Markovina used it for two years and found it light at 1.1 kg, with no noticeable flex or weak joints, folding to 42 cm and reaching 157 cm with the center column raised. Ewen Bell recommends it as a great first tripod thanks to its integrated ball head with Arca-Swiss mount, lists an 18kg payload, and liked the included phone adapter and replacement spikes, but found the stream of marketing emails after purchase excessive.
The Zero Y has real limits. Stefano Politi Markovina found stability dropped noticeably in wind, especially with the center column raised, and over time the flip locks and leg sections showed wear and could loosen; Ulanzi sent a free replacement leg. After moving to a heavier camera with a 100–400 mm lens, the integrated ball head began slipping under load, and the reviewer replaced the head after about 18 months. Ewen Bell likewise found it capable but not nearly as stable as Peak Design's model after a month in Norway.

Ulanzi Zero F38 tripod
The Zero F38 is a premium travel tripod inspired by Peak Design's carbon-fiber design. Geeky Nerdy Techy called it a tank with the best build quality it had seen, with an 18kgs maximum load, and liked how freely it can be positioned. It also notes Ulanzi advertises a lifetime guarantee with serviceable, replaceable parts.

Ulanzi control decks
Ulanzi D200X control deck
The D200X is Ulanzi's answer to the Elgato Stream Deck: a desktop control panel with programmable keys and 3 programmable dials. Fstoppers found the software is where it becomes useful for editing workflows, especially for video, and priced the separate Dial at around $35, low next to rivals like Loupedeck. Ulanzi's earlier D200 had 14 customizable keys.
Lights and phone accessories
Ulanzi also sells compact RGB video lights, pocket lights, magnetic phone stands and suction mounts, and selfie sticks with built-in fill lights, all at budget prices. Our sources focus on tripods and control decks, so we have less hands-on evidence on these smaller accessories.
Shipping
Ulanzi's shipping policy says it aims to process orders within 1-2 business days and ships from warehouses in the US, the Czech Republic for EU customers, and China for countries such as Australia, Canada, the UK and Japan, using carriers including USPS, UPS, DHL and YunExpress. It does not ship to Armed Forces addresses.

Who should buy Ulanzi, and who should skip it
Ulanzi suits travel photographers, vloggers, streamers and video editors who want solid gear on a budget. If you are building a desk setup, our Nillkin review covers iPad keyboard cases, and our Chessnut review looks at another well-designed gadget brand.
Skip Ulanzi if you want the absolute lightest travel tripod, need the most polished control software, or prefer an established premium brand's support network.
Alternatives
Peak Design and Gitzo are the premium tripod benchmarks reviewers compare Ulanzi against, at much higher prices. For control decks, Elgato's Stream Deck and Loupedeck are the main rivals, and Fstoppers notes Ulanzi undercuts both.
